A New Look for "The King'

We've been busy around the store sprucing things up. Come in to see our whole new look. We have added a little color, made an entire CARDSTOCK ROOM, re-arranged our categories, and last but certainly not least, we've added the Creative Cafe {ART BAR}. I'm so excited about how our store looks, it feels like we just opened for the first time. I have to say thank you to our work crew that worked day and night to get so much work done in such a short amount of time. "Thanks ladies! I could not have done this without you. I'll be buying margaritas for everyone real soon." The {ART BAR} is up and the product is out. It has been very well received so far. Saturday is our {ART BAR} Celebration day. We will be offering a couple free projects during the day and all Creative Cafe products are on SALE 15% off. I am working on our projects for Saturday and will post pictures of them soon.

Route 5 Wrap-Up

Well it's been almost 2 weeks since the retreat. I've finally recovered and am excited to say that the final figures came in today. Route 5 Scrapbook Retreat raised over $3100 for the Children's Advocacy Center. Woo Hoo! Good job goes out to all the ladies that attended. Not only we were able to give a financial donation, we were able to give the Advocacy Center a car load of scrapbook supplies as well. We had a great time and the feedback we've been receiving is wonderful. We enjoyed having Karen Russell and Courtney DeLaura come to the event and share their talents with all of us. Don't worry if you missed this event, we'll be putting together the 2nd annual Route 5 event in 2008.

Route 5 Retreat

I can't believe that we are just a month away from this wonderful event. I just have to tell you how much fun it has been getting to know and to have a chance to work with the other scrapbook store owners in the valley. I just found a sneak peak of Courtney's project that she'll be teaching at the retreat. I'm sharing the picture here, it looks so fun I wish I could make the project. As of the end of last week there were about 10 tickets left. So if you want to come or if you already have your ticket and you want to bring a friend, give us a call and we'll get you a ticket.

New Products

Summer CHA was held at the end of July in Chicago. We don't usually attend the summer show, but we have some really great reps that come our way right after the show to with many new products. So Gloria and I have had a week of rep appointments, ordering lots of new products for all you scrappers and yes some new stuff you stampers as well. We've been seeing lots of fall, halloween, and holiday products. As you know from the past, some of it will ship right away, while much of it will ship September and October. So this gives you plenty of reason to come in the store on a regular basis to see what's new. Another reason to come in to the store this month is to take advantage of our SALE A DAY IN AUGUST. Each day a different product is featured and will be marked down 25-40%. I've got to get to my desk and start paying the bills, (after all we don't want the lights shut off the next time you visit.) But early next week I will post some pictures of some of our favorite picks. One thing we ordered BEFORE the show even started so we could get in line are the all new acrylic albums. Yep, another new surface to work on. I've been seeing samples of some of these mini albums done and they are incredible. A see-through page, can you imagine. So if you put a rub-on on one side, you can see it on the other side. How fun is that? So please check in again real soon to wet your appetite for all the great things to come.

Design Team

I just wanted to share with everyone the last few design team projects we have on display at the store. Be sure to make a trip into the store sometime soon to see these and several other page samples done by our fabulous designers. Their work is sure to inspire you! Tiffany Moore has a great disney layout on display. A funny story about that very page. Someone came in recently, walked right in the door and looked at that page. She says, "oh my gosh, that's Phil my phone man." I said "that is Phil, the phone man, but he's Tiffany's!" I can remember a few funny instances where people on the page samples are recognized, or when my friends come in and see pictures of themselves hanging in the store. No wonder they are becoming camera shy around me. Robyn Acrey did an adorable Grandpa's brag book with photos of her first grandson. The accordion album slides into a slip case that is embellished to match to book. Honestly, I'm not sure what's cuter, the boy or the book. Darla Whitney made a beautiful chipboard file folder book for her step-daughter Krista. I love the use of the flowers and the oh so pretty Basic Grey papers and letters. She actually worked on this book while she was here at the store at one of our workshops. She's amazing, she just whips it out like there's nothing to it. Thanks for sharing your talent ladies! Stacey

A*Muse A*Palooza

We had a very successful week of fun-filled activities for A*Muse A*Palooza. Kristen did such a wonderful job putting this event on. She had a beautiful spread of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy, hosted make 'n' takes each day and taught a great round-robin style class where everyone got to make 10 terrific A Muse cards. Thank you Kristen for a job well done, you always go above and beyond. We appreciate your efforts and so do our customers! For each activity attended we gave out raffle tickets. Our in-store grand prize winner for a basket full of stamps, ink pads, note cards and epoxy stickers was Sami Dusenberry. We also gave 6 smaller prizes and those lucky winners were Toni Ramsey, Gwynn Sullivan, Heidi Hobson, Lindsey Peterson, Rooney Riggs and Lori Schoen. Congratulations Ladies!!! Stay tuned for the announcement of the A*Muse A*Palooza grand prize winner. They are giving away one of every new stamp for an entire year. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it's someone from our events.

This and That

I spent last weekend in Brookings. It's so nice to have a wonderful little get-a-way so close to home. Although the way my husband drives through the Smith River scares me to death. I always swear I'm never going again and his comeback is always the same "Why don't you just go to sleep for awhile." We had our annual Scrappers Garage Sale this last Saturday as well. Let me tell you there were some really great deals. Brand new organizational totes that had never been used were sold for dirt cheap. There were tools, papers, stamps and more. If you are still doing spring cleaning, box up those unwanted supplies and save them for next years sale. It's an easy way to make some scrapbook bucks. We hired a new team member here at the King. Her name is Marilyn and she is a scrapper and stamper. We are so blessed to have found someone so talented. You will most often see Marilyn at the store on Saturday's and on occasion at the workshops and Crop A Lots. I think when you have the chance to meet her you will think she is quite a delight. Welcome aboard Marilyn! We have started selling tickets for the Route 5 Scrapbook Retreat. This is going to be a really great event right here in the Rogue Valley. We have flyers at the store if you would like more information, leave a comment here on the Blog and I can email you a copy of the flyer. Have a wonderful afternoon! Stacey

Updates

Hello friends, It's been awhile since I've given you any updates about the happenings here at "The King." We've received some new items in the store that I'm sure you will enjoy. Last week we unpacked new papers and embellishments from 7 Gypsies. I'm including some photos of their new line of beautiful papers, their new tags and the awesome new clear rubber stamps which are so Gypsie style. We're still working on putting out the new May product from EK Success. The Cutterpede cutter now comes in a pretty pink. They also now have 2 new tool totes that are pink. I have one and use it for my clear stamps and my inks and blocks go in the bottom compartment. Pretty snazzee. Another line that arrived recently was Creative Imaginations. Part of our CHA order finally shipped and we got in some fun new "beachy, tropical" papers and embellishments that are FABULOUS. They have epoxy stickers, big printed brads and chipboard elements. Also from CI we received the wine line. Great papers and embellies for our area of growing wineries and for those of us that enjoy a little sip of the good stuff once in awhile. I personally can't wait to do a Wine and Seafood Festival layout with these great products. We are now officially selling tickets for the Route 5 Scrapbook Retreat. Four of your LSS (local scrapbook stores) are putting on this amazing event. It will be held Friday and Saturday, September 21-22. Friday night each store will host an in-store kick off event. Saturday will be an all day scrapbook session from 9a.m. to 11p.m. at the Windmill Inn and Suites of Ashland. At the retreat there will be shopping, mini projects, an appearance by Renowned designer, Karen Russell, 2 catered meals, Raffle and door prizes. Proceeds from this event will go to the Children's Advocacy Center. Space is limited so be sure to stop by and get your ticket as soon as possible (cash or check only.) Our newsletter should have arrived in your mailbox by now. We have a lot of great classes coming up. Look at the calendar on our website, www.stampstruck.com. Double click on the name of the class and you will most likely see a photo of the class project. Have a great weekend everyone and I hope to post again next week. Stacey

MIA

Did you think I had gone MIA? I think I've been missing under the mounds have stuff that keeps piling up on my desk. It's the 24th and I haven't even started the May/June newsletter yet...YIKES! We've been pretty crazy busy around here with a little of this and a little of that. Karen Lockhart of Lockhart Stamps was here over the weekend. She taught 2 fabulous classes, we had 30 people attend and they reported back to me that the classes were incredible. Thanks Karen! I attended the Eagle Point crop on Saturday and did a fun little mini book make 'n' take using the new Zutter Dream Cutter and Bind It All. If you haven't seen these tools yet, you really should stop by and ask for a demo. Sunday we got some new shelving units delivered to organize our albums and page refills in. Robyn, bless her heart came in and helped me get it all set-up. Look I took a picture just to show you how nice it looks. We also have some great classes coming up. Tomorrow Tiffany is teaching this great book dedicated to mom and all the reason you appreciate her. Give us a call to sign-up, your mom will be so touched by this heartfelt gift. Another gift idea for mom is this home decor item "XO" for mom. They are large foam core letters that have been embellished with papers, sentiments, ribbons and more. I'll be teaching that class next Monday night.
We're still receiving new products from the CHA Winter show. We got a nice assortment of products from Creative Imaginations today, we got more Girl Scout papers and embellishments, American Crafts papers and ribbons, and beautiful fishing papers from Paper Adventures. These are just a few from this week, Gloria and Kristen are at a mini trade show right now and I have no doubt that they are finding lots more goodies we just simply can't live without.
Don't forget the Used Stamps Sale starts right at 10 this Saturday. Be here early to get in line for the best selection.
National Scrapbook Day is upon us soon. We will be a having a storewide sale, so everyone even you stampers get the chance to SAVE. Friday May 4th and Saturday May 5th save 15% off everything in the store and 75% on all clearance merchandise.

Friday, April 6, 2007

It's Friday night at 6:40 and I'm about ready to leave for a whole week. Yep, I'm taking next week off. Pretty funny, I told Gloria the other day that I was gonna take next week off, she chuckled, and I said "No seriously, I'm taking the week off." Once she got over the initial shock, it was all good (I hope.) So I'm excited to be taking some time off just to catch up around my house. I've got some serious cleaning to do, especially my scrappin' desk. What a disaster! Just wanted to tell you of a few fun things that have arrived in the store recently. We just got the Disney Cricut cartridges in. There are 2 to choose from, the Characters and the Alphabet. Autumn Leaves has some really awesome clear stamps. We got quite a selection in, flourishes, journaling shapes, flowers, sayings, and alphabets. I own a few sets of stamps from Autumn Leaves and I'm very impressed with the nice crisp image you get from them. We are on our second shipment of the Quickutz Revolution cutting tool. It's great because of the ease in which you can cut your shapes and alphabets. You can use the new larger size dies, or you can cut with 4 of the smaller dies at once. Pretty handy! We have several of the new larger fonts, they are really pretty and have great names also (Spicy Chicken, Beauty Queen, Finale Grand etc.) The Quickutz Silhouette just arrived yesterday. This is the new electronic cutter that hooks up directly to your computer. You can cut any true type font that is on your computer. So basically, once you have the machine you have access to tons of fonts. We've just added more to our already large selection of Disney products. We've got new albums, 3D embellishments, papers and titles. I know many of you probably went to Disneyland on Spring break, so what are you waiting for, come on in and get those albums started. I hope everyone has a lovely Easter. Enjoy this beautiful weather while it lasts. I'll post again when I return in 9 days. Doesn't that sound heavenly...9 whole days at home. Stacey

Gardner's Journal Class

This Saturday afternoon, Tiffany is teaching a very cute Gardner's Journal class. She'll be showing you how to use the Zutter machine to make your own book, she's compiled many notes about the growing and planting season is Oregon, and she's created a sample book using a variety of techniques and pretty floral papers. This is a class scrappers, stampers, and paper crafters alike will enjoy.

Weekend Retreat

We returned Sunday from our 2nd Annual Weekend Scrapbook Retreat in Shady Cove. Fifteen fabulous and talented ladies joined us for 48 fun-filled hours of scrapping, laughing, singing, eating, drinking and not much sleeping! Between all of us we completed a grand total of 279 pages and 5 mini books. These were not your average pages either, they were amazingly beautiful. The product of the event...Stickles and more Stickles. Next year we decided there must be a dedicated Stickle drying area. The entertainment of the weekend: the singing and dancing on Saturday night. Yep, those girls that stayed up until the WEE hours thought they had become ROCK STARS. Might I add that I discovered I really, really like Cheryl Crowe's music. Thanks again Ali for bringing your IPod and the awesome Scrapbook Playlist of music. Thank you to everyone that joined us, we really had a great time spending the weekend with you! Stacey and Gloria

upcoming classes

We've got several upcoming classes that you won't want to miss. Monday night, I'll be teaching "Get Chipped." A two page beach layout embellishing chipboard shapes and letters with paper, paints, inks and ribbons. Wednesday night, Clayette is teaching "Days Gone By." For those of you that have heritage photos to scrap, this is the class for you. And in April I'll be doing a fun little flower shaped book, called Flower Power. This mini book would make a great gift for a special mom or grandma, it can be used to showcase someone's beautiful flower garden or to show off a pretty little girl in your life, or just for some happy spring time photos. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. We'll see you soon. Stacey
